Madrid will approach 35 degrees in a dry and very warm weekend

Madrid sees out June with a weekend of intense heat, mostly clear skies and fully summery weather. This Saturday 27 June will be the hottest day, with highs of around 35 degrees in the capital and a particularly heavy perceived temperature during the middle hours of the day.

The morning will begin with mild temperatures, but the relief will not last long. From midday, the heat will intensify in streets, squares and areas with little shade, so outdoor plans will require some preparation: water, a cap, light clothing and avoiding prolonged exertion during the sunniest hours.

The sky will generally remain clear or with some high cloud, with no significant rain forecast in the capital. The wind will be light, so it will not do much to cool the atmosphere in the centre or in neighbourhoods most exposed to asphalt.

Sunday 28 June will follow the same pattern, although with somewhat more moderate temperatures. The high will be around 33 degrees and the low close to 21, bringing another warm night, especially in homes that accumulate heat during the day.

The heat will also be felt during travel and leisure plans. Terraces, swimming pools, parks, neighbourhood festivities and cultural activities will mark the weekend, but the middle hours of the day will be the least comfortable for walking or spending a long time in the sun.

The Agencia Estatal de Meteorología remains alert to a new warm spell across much of the country. During the weekend, temperatures will exceed 35 degrees in wide areas of the centre, east and south of the peninsula, and Madrid will again be among the areas where summer clearly takes hold.

For older people, children, pregnant women, outdoor workers and people with chronic illnesses, the recommendation is to reduce direct sun exposure, drink water frequently and seek cool spaces. On days like these, heat is not only uncomfortable: it can also become a risk if it builds up over several hours.

Monday could still remain very warm, before it becomes clear whether the week will begin with further rises or slight stabilisation. For now, the last weekend of June leaves Madrid with a clear idea: plans, yes, but better with shade, well-chosen times and plenty of hydration.
