Madrid embraces anime: local cinemas will screen classics and premieres throughout May

May promises strong emotions for anime lovers in Madrid. From Saturday the 4th until Sunday the 25th, two Madrid cinemas, Cine Paz and Palacio de Hielo, will become temples of Japanese animation with a programme packed with classics, premieres, presentations and prize draws. All as part of the launch of animek2, a new label created to promote anime films in regular cinema listings.

The central tribute will be dedicated to Satoshi Kon, one of the genre's great masters, whose films will be screened every Sunday afternoon. Essential works such as Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika and the acclaimed Perfect Blue will return to the big screen with restored sound and image. Saturdays will be pirate territory, with double bills of One Piece, accompanied by presentations led by experts from the otaku world such as Juan Pérez and José Arce, in collaboration with Impact Store. Fridays will be reserved for premieres: on the 9th, Kaiju no 8: reconnaissance mission and the Korean classic Robot Taekwon V will be screened, while Anzu, Ghost Cat will arrive on the 16th.

Tickets for each screening will cost approximately €6.50, an ideal opportunity to relive the gems of Japanese animation on the big screen. In addition, each showing will include prize draws and special activities celebrating the diversity, creativity and emotion that only anime can convey. An unmissable event for otakus and film lovers alike.
