Madrid surrenders to Vienna’s New Year’s Concert with four unique dates
Vienna’s New Year’s Concert comes to Madrid in 2026 with the magic of Strauss at the Gran Teatro Príncipe Pío and the Auditorio Nacional, with dates and surprises for all ages.
Madrid is preparing to welcome 2026 with the unmistakable Viennese spirit. Vienna's legendary New Year's Concert, watched by millions around the world, is coming to the capital with four performances that promise excitement and tradition. Gran Teatro CaixaBank Príncipe Pío will be transformed into a setting worthy of Vienna's Musikverein on 1 and 2 January, with sessions at 13:00, 18:00 and 20:30, and on 3 January at 13:00.
The Orquesta Sinfónica de La Estación by Singus, conducted by Rubén Jordán, will perform the great classics of the Strauss family. The audience will be able to enjoy emblematic pieces such as 'El Danubio Azul', the 'Marcha Radetzky' and the 'Vals del Emperador', in an atmosphere that recreates the festive ambience of the Austrian capital.
The 'Viena en Madrid' series celebrates its fifth edition at the Auditorio Nacional de Música, establishing itself as one of the essential dates in Spain's classical music programme. On 3 January at 19:30, the Philharmonic Ensemble, made up of members of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Viena, will offer what the organisers describe as the authentic Vienna New Year's Concert. The repertoire, renewed every year, includes waltzes, polkas and marches that keep alive the legacy of the Strausses and their musical circle.
On 4 January at 11:00, the Sala Sinfónica del Auditorio Nacional will host a version adapted for all audiences. 'El espíritu de Viena para todas las edades' offers a shorter, more dynamic journey through the concert's greatest hits, designed for families and young people to discover the magic of live classical music.
The performers include internationally renowned musicians such as Shkëlzen Doli, Holger Groh, Elmar Landerer, Sebastian Bru and Filip Waldmann. The family programme includes waltzes, polkas and marches performed with the elegance and precision that characterise the protagonists of the New Year's Concert. Tickets have special prices for young people aged 6 to 18, making access easier for new generations.
The fifth edition of the 'Viena en Madrid' series will run until May 2026, with seven concerts at the Auditorio Nacional. International orchestras, members of the Filarmónica de Viena and prestigious soloists will offer a varied programme ranging from chamber music to the grand symphony, consolidating Madrid as the epicentre of European classical music.
