Madrid adds 11,372 new SER spaces: free parking ends in five neighbourhoods
Madrid will extend regulated parking to five key neighbourhoods, with more than 11,000 SER spaces before 2029, prioritising residents; consult the affected areas and details.
Madrid City Council has given the green light to a major expansion of the Servicio de Estacionamiento Regulado (SER), which will mean the creation of 66,120 new spaces in the city. Of these, 11,372 will be installed before 2029 in five neighbourhoods where parking has so far been free: Peñagrande (Fuencarral-El Pardo), Valdezarza (Moncloa-Aravaca), Opañel and San Isidro (Carabanchel), and Costillares (Ciudad Lineal).
This measure, initially approved by the Governing Board after amending the Sustainable Mobility Ordinance, seeks to make parking easier for residents in areas with high commercial, cultural and leisure activity. The process is in the public-information stage after its publication in the Official Bulletin of the Community of Madrid on 15 December. Once objections have been resolved and the municipal Plenary gives final approval, the expansion will become a reality.
In the first phase, the new SER spaces will be rolled out in the following areas:
Peñagrande (Fuencarral-El Pardo): Avenida del Cardenal Herrera Oria, Calle de la Isla de Tabarca, Avenida de la Ilustración, Calle del Valle de Mena, Camino de Ganapanes and Avenida de Betanzos.
Valdezarza (Moncloa-Aravaca): Valle de Mena, Villaamil, Sinesio Delgado, Antonio Machado, Isla de Oza, Nueva Zelanda, Doctor Juan José López Ibor, Alcalde Martín de Alzaga sports facilities, Avenida Santo Ángel de la Guarda, General Cadenas Campos, Paseo Maestra María Sánchez Arbós and Francos Rodríguez.
Opañel and San Isidro (Carabanchel): Calles Antonio Leyva, Avenida de Oporto, Portalegre, Mercedes de Arteaga, Sallaberry, General Ricardos, Comuneros de Castilla, Armengot, Puente de Toledo, Paseo Quince de Mayo and Paseo Ermita del Santo.
Costillares (Ciudad Lineal): Cuesta del Sagrado Corazón, Calle Arturo Soria and Calle Manuel Azaña.
The expansion will continue until 2035, adding spaces in neighbourhoods such as Valverde, Lucero, Aluche, Los Cármenes, Puerta del Ángel, Puerta Bonita, Abrantes, Vista Alegre, Zofío, Orcasur, Pueblo Nuevo, Quintana, Concepción, Marroquina, Fontarrón, Vinateros, Media Legua, San Diego, Palomeras Bajas and Numancia.
