Madrid to enjoy a sunny weekend: up to 33 degrees in the south

Saturday will start with a low of around 16 ºC in Madrid and clear skies in the morning. Some clouds may appear in the afternoon, but the chance of rain remains at 0%. The temperature will rise to 31 ºC.

Sunday will be very similar, although the early hours will be a bit warmer. The minimum temperature expected in the capital will rise to 18 ºC and the maximum will remain around 31 ºC, again with clear skies and no rain throughout the day.

The change is especially noticeable when comparing the weekend with Thursday. The Aemet station in El Retiro recorded a maximum of 26 ºC on 10 September, about five degrees less than forecast for Saturday and Sunday. This is not a heatwave, but rather a quick return to clearly summer-like temperatures after the recent drop in the last few days.

The heat will be a bit more intense towards the south of the region. In Aranjuez, Aemet forecasts up to 33 ºC on both Saturday and Sunday, with lows of 14 and 15 ºC respectively. No rain is expected in the forecast for either day.

The difference will be noticeable in the mountains. In Navacerrada, highs will stay around 27 ºC on Saturday and 28 ºC on Sunday, while at night temperatures will drop to 13 and 14 ºC. The mountain forecast from Aemet also does not expect rain or storms on Saturday in Guadarrama y Somosierra.

The weather will allow for almost any outdoor plan over the weekend, although the middle hours of the day will once again be the hottest, especially in the centre and south of the region. For routes in the mountains, however, the difference between early morning and afternoon temperatures will remain considerable.

The stable weather will continue at the start of next week. Aemet is forecasting a mostly clear Monday in Madrid with temperatures still high, so the weekend does not appear to be an isolated episode of heat before an immediate change in the weather.
