Madrid to experience a weekend of intense heat and mild nights
Madrid kicks off this Saturday with a fully summery weekend, featuring intense heat, clear skies, and temperatures that will once again affect outdoor plans. The capital will reach around 37 degrees during the day and maintain a dry and very sunny atmosphere.
AEMET keeps the yellow warning for high temperatures active in the Metropolitana y Henares area between 13:00 and 21:00. The forecast points to highs of up to 37 degrees, especially in the middle of the day and early afternoon, when asphalt and large avenues accumulate more heat.
The morning will be the most comfortable time for walking, sport or errands. Lows will be around 21 degrees, more bearable than on harsher tropical nights, although the heat will rise quickly as the day progresses.
Saturday will be marked by mostly clear skies and a high apparent temperature in squares, terraces, bus stops and areas with little shade. Outdoor plans can continue, but prolonged exertion should be avoided between midday and late afternoon.
Sunday will bring no major change. Highs will be around 36 degrees and lows will fall slightly to about 20. The day will start with somewhat more cloud, but the sun will prevail again and keep conditions hot throughout the city.
The heat will also affect those planning to follow the World Cup final on screens, in bars or squares. Although the match will be at night, the wait beforehand may coincide with still very warm hours, so seeking shade, staying hydrated and avoiding arriving too early in exposed areas will be key.
The recommendation for the weekend is to adapt schedules, drink water frequently, use sun protection and pay attention to older people, young children and vulnerable neighbours. Air-conditioned spaces, museums, cultural centres and indoor shelters will be a good alternative during the afternoon.
