Madrid strengthens its alliance with Lisbon for cultural and economic projects
The relationship between Madrid and Lisbon is gaining momentum through new institutional alliances. President Isabel Díaz Ayuso has received Lisbon mayor Carlos Moedas at the Real Casa de Correos, in a meeting that points to concrete changes in mobility, the economy and culture.
The meeting continues the memorandum signed in 2023 and seeks to accelerate joint projects in key areas such as innovation, energy, research and talent attraction. The aim is to strengthen the connection between the two capitals and generate opportunities for companies and professionals.
One of the central points is once again the direct rail connection. The possibility of a fast train between Madrid and Lisbon could transform the way people travel, making getaways, cultural exchanges and work journeys between the two cities easier.
Progress on this infrastructure would bring a significant change in mobility. Reducing journey times and improving the connection would open up new economic and tourism dynamics, bringing two capitals that share increasingly strategic interests closer together.
