Majadahonda surprises: it installs its second traffic light after decades without change

Majadahonda takes an unexpected step in urban mobility: the City Council has begun work to install the municipality’s second traffic light in its history. The new device will regulate the junction of Avenida Reyes Católicos and Calle Doctor Calero, an intersection known for its high traffic density and constant pedestrian flow.

The work, with a budget of €103,449.47, is scheduled to take two and a half months. Once operational, the traffic light will function in trial mode, allowing municipal technicians to adjust its operation to maximise safety and efficiency in traffic.

The local government says the installation seeks to organise the crossing of pedestrians and vehicles, as well as facilitate decision-making on accessibility and mobility. The traffic light is presented as a key tool for analysing traffic flows and improving road safety in one of Majadahonda’s busiest areas.
