Día del Trabajador disrupts mobility in Barcelona: three marches and diversions on more than 20 bus routes
Mobility in Barcelona will change this Friday because of the Día del Trabajador demonstrations. Between 11:30 and 14:00, three simultaneous demonstrations will pass through different parts of the city, causing traffic closures and diversions on numerous bus routes.
The first march, called by CGT, will leave from Jardines de Salvador Espriu (Jardinets de Gràcia) and proceed along Gran de Gràcia, Travessera de Gràcia and side streets to plaça d’en Joanic. During the route, H8, V17, V19, 6, 22, 24, 33, 34, 39, 114 and 116 services will be affected.
The largest mobilisation will be that of CCOO and UGT, leaving from plaça de Urquinaona. The route will continue along ronda de Sant Pere and Via Laietana to plaça de Idrissa Diallo. On this central corridor, D50, H16, V15, V17, 19, 39, 47, 52, 55 and 120 services, and the Barcelona Bus Turístic (Red Route), will be diverted.
The third march, organised by USOC, will set off from plaça de Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer and travel along passeig de Sant Joan, Sant Antoni Maria Claret and Sicília. In this area of the Eixample, D50, H8, H10, V19, 6, 19, 33, 34, 39, 47, 59 and 114 services, and the Barcelona Bus Turístic (Blue Route), will be affected.
The impact will be concentrated in neighbourhoods such as Gràcia, the Eixample and the centre, where traffic will face intermittent interruptions and public transport will adapt its routes. The recommendation is to plan journeys in advance and check possible alternatives.
Labour Day is one of the most mobilising dates in Barcelona. Every year, thousands of people take to the streets to demand labour rights, on a day which, beyond its symbolic weight, transforms the urban rhythm and the way people move around the city for a few hours.
