More than 10,000 people visit the historic metro train exhibition

The exhibition of historic Barcelona metro trains, located on the esplanade of the Centre Cultural la Farinera del Clot, has surpassed 10,000 visits in less than a week since it opened. It is a free exhibition organised to celebrate the metro’s centenary and bring the evolution of the city’s suburban transport closer to the public.

Since last Saturday, visitors have been able to explore the restored carriages of the 100, 300, 400, 1100 and 3000 series, which have run on the network since 1924. The exhibition will remain open until 10 January and allows visitors to see the trains both inside and out.

To make the visit easier, ramps and stairs have been installed at carriage level, along with interior walkways beneath a 1,200-square-metre marquee. The information panels include Navilens codes offering audio content in 24 languages, improving accessibility for people with visual impairments.

The exhibition, entitled “Els trens del Centenari. El patrimoni ferroviari del Metro de Barcelona”, can be visited Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 and at weekends from 11:00 to 19:00, except at Christmas and New Year.

The five carriages on display, some declared Assets of National Cultural Interest, have undergone extensive restoration with an investment of 2.1 million euros. Original colours have been recovered, floors, frames, windows, doors and side panels restored, and corridor and cab lighting renewed.
