Miley Cyrus returns with “Something Beautiful”, an ode to unrequited love
After two years of recording silence, Miley Cyrus releases her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, an introspective and emotion-filled work now available on all digital platforms.
With 13 songs and unexpected collaborations—such as those with Brittany Howard and Naomi Campbell—the record opts for a mix of experimental sound and personal confessions. Cyrus not only sings, but has also led the creative process, from writing to production.
Critics are divided: while some applaud the singer’s artistic evolution and her ability to capture raw emotions, others criticise the excess of instrumental production and less developed lyrics.
According to her followers, the album’s central theme is the pain of unrequited love, something particularly apparent in tracks such as More to Lose and Easy Lover. However, the greatest praise goes to the song that gives the record its title, with a dark atmosphere and an imposing vocal performance.
The artist acknowledged having been inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall. As a complement to the album, a film promising to explore new dimensions of this project will premiere on 12 June.
