Mónica García takes the first step to lead political change in Madrid
Madrid's political landscape is starting to move ahead of schedule. Mónica García has confirmed her intention to be Más Madrid's candidate in the 2027 regional elections, with the aim of opening a new phase and bringing Isabel Díaz Ayuso's cycle to an end.
The announcement was made during the La Madrileña open-air dance, held in Paraíso park in the San Blas-Canillejas district. In a festive atmosphere, but one charged with political messaging, the current Minister of Health said she is prepared to lead the project if she has the support of her party and the public.
Accompanied by Manuela Bergerot and Rita Maestre, García defended the need to tackle structural problems from the regional government. Her approach is to change the direction of the Comunidad de Madrid and respond to social demands which, in her assessment, remain unresolved.
The message was direct: she aspires to preside over the region and lead a political alternative that connects with everyday life in the neighbourhoods. The staging, far from an institutional format, reinforces the strategy of proximity that her party is seeking to consolidate in the city.
