Móstoles reserves protected housing for those who have lived in the municipality for a decade
Móstoles is giving priority to its residents in access to protected housing. Seventy-five percent of new developments will be allocated to those who have been registered in the city for at least ten years. The city also expects improvements in mobility with the future extension of the Metro.
Living in Móstoles and being able to stay in the municipality will become easier for those who have spent years building their lives here. The City Council has approved two agreements with the Comunidad de Madrid that will allow the construction of 249 subsidised homes in Móstoles Sur, reserving 75% of them for people who have been registered as residents in the city for at least a decade. This measure aims to address one of the main concerns of local families: finding affordable housing without having to leave their usual surroundings.
The mayor, Manuel Bautista, has emphasised that these 249 homes represent real opportunities for residents of Móstoles to start or continue their life projects in their own city. The decision comes after approval by the Junta de Gobierno and is a concrete step towards stopping residents from leaving due to a lack of affordable options.
The municipal commitment to improving quality of life is not limited to housing. Bautista has recalled that mobility is also a priority, especially after the announcement by the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, regarding the future extension of the L10 de Metro. The plan is to extend the line by 6.5 kilometres from Puerta del Sur (Alcorcón) to Móstoles, with at least six new stations. Technical studies will take place between 2027 and 2029, and construction is scheduled between 2030 and 2034, according to the official announcement.
The mayor believes that the Metro extension responds to a long-standing demand from residents and that the infrastructure will transform mobility in the area. He thanks the regional government for supporting this project, convinced that it will change the way people move around the southwest of Madrid.
