Móstoles launches a green October with free nature and biodiversity activities
Móstoles City Council has designed a free programme for this October that invites residents and families to reconnect with the natural environment through workshops, routes and educational experiences. The initiative, coordinated by the Department of Security, Emergencies and Environment, seeks to promote sustainable habits and strengthen environmental awareness from an early age.
The programme brings together proposals in collaboration with SEO BirdLife, Lanzambiental and the Sociedad Micológica de Móstoles. Highlights include bird-ringing workshops, which will demonstrate scientific conservation methods, and mycelium inoculation workshops, aimed at discovering the importance of fungi in ecosystems. There will also be native-species planting sessions and an introductory mycology course every Monday.
The offering is completed by guided routes through distinctive sites, such as El Pardo, the banks of the Manzanares, Soto de las Juntas in Rivas Vaciamadrid and Camino de las Huelgas beside the Guadarrama, as well as a dramatised activity in the forests of San Lorenzo del Escorial. The gatherings will take place in local settings such as Finca Liana and Parque Nelson Mandela, combining leisure and learning.
With this programme, the municipality turns October into a month dedicated to public participation in environmental conservation, promoting experiences that strengthen the link between nature and those who enjoy it every day.
