Hotel sofas, lamps and headboards go on sale in Madrid with discounts of up to 90%
Four Madrid hotels are selling part of their second-hand furniture at prices starting from €9.99. The new edition of The Hotel Drop began this Thursday, 3 September, and will continue until Sunday the 6th, or until stock runs out.
The operation brings together more than 2,500 units across more than 30 product types. There are bed bases, lamps, mirrors, headboards, tables, armchairs and bathroom items from hotels still in operation, including Zentral Castellana Norte, Nuevo Boston and Hotel Miguel Ángel.
Discounts can reach 90% off the original price listed for each item. Examples advertised include wall lights for under 10 euros, headboards for 22, tables for around 30 and armchairs with footrests for under 55. Some products, however, have already sold out since the sale opened.
Purchases are made exclusively online and require free registration with The Hotel Drop. Users receive a password linked to a specific access slot and can buy while stock remains available.
Then comes the less usual part for an online shop: there is no delivery. Each buyer must collect their items in person in Madrid and choose a day and time to do so when making the purchase. This is especially important for large furniture, because transport is the customer's responsibility.
It is also worth examining the condition of each product closely. ECO-ONE specifies that this is used furniture from hotels and that it may show normal signs of use. The units in this release are classified as functional and in good condition, but the photographs and measurements should be checked before payment.
The Hotel Drop is the digital evolution of a format that had already proved to be in demand in Madrid. More than 2,000 people took part in a previous in-person sale of furniture from the former ME Reina Victoria, and more than 43 tonnes of materials were kept from being discarded.
The first online edition made another leap: ECO-ONE recorded 19,912 registrants in Madrid, while the subsequent Paris edition brought together 3,731. The company now uses brief, non-replenished releases to sell furniture that hotels remove during refurbishments or renovations.
The current sale will remain open until Sunday 6 September, but that deadline is only the maximum limit. When an item sells out, it disappears from the offer, so actual availability may change throughout the weekend.
