National Geographic recognises a Catalan valley as one of Spain's natural wonders
In the heart of the Girona Pyrenees, Vall de Núria has been recognised by National Geographic as one of Spain's seven natural wonders to discover this summer.
The prestigious outlet highlights its “peace, experiences in nature and picture-postcard landscapes”, which make this Catalan corner a perfect refuge from the urban heat.
Although it is a regular winter destination because of its ski resort, in summer the valley shows a calmer, greener side. Mild temperatures and the mountain setting make Núria an ideal place for walks, family outings or contemplative getaways. From the ascent of Puigmal to the demanding Olla de Núria circular route, the valley appeals to hikers and lovers of scenery alike.
This enclave can only be reached on the legendary rack railway, which climbs more than a thousand metres through woods and crags, offering a visual prelude to the natural spectacle awaiting at the summit.
