Madrid opens applications to join Fundación Orcam’s children’s choir and youth chamber ensemble

Fundación Orcam opens registration for its youth ensembles. Families and young people can join key musical projects in the city. Auditions and deadlines shape Madrid’s spring cultural calendar.

Madrid’s cultural agenda adds new options for people who want music to be part of their daily lives. Fundación Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid (Fundación Orcam) has opened the registration period for three of its educational groups: the Coro Infantil, the Pequeños Cantores and the Joven Camerata. These ensembles offer children and young people the chance to join leading musical projects, with activities spread across some of the city’s most emblematic venues.

For those interested in the choral ensembles, applications will remain open until 23 April at 23:59. Auditions will be held on 7 May at Orcam headquarters. Boys and girls born between 1 January 2010 and 31 August 2021 may apply. During the test, each applicant will perform a song of their choice and complete a short exercise with the teaching team. The Pequeños Cantores choir, created in 2010 and directed by Ana González ever since, brings together participants aged between 5 and 16. The Coro Infantil acts as an earlier, training stage. Their upcoming activities include performing as the children’s main choir at the Teatro Real, concerts in major halls and collaborations with both national and international orchestras.

The call for the Joven Camerata is also still open, with places for violin, viola, cello and double bass. The registration deadline is 7 June at 23:59. Young people born after 1 September 2009 may apply, provided that they have a musical level equivalent to the third year of Grado Profesional. Auditions will take place on 20 June at Orcam headquarters. Under the direction of Anne-Marie North, the Joven Camerata brings together musicians up to the age of 18 and seeks to develop both individual technique and group work. Its performances have reached venues such as the Auditorio Nacional de Música, the Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial and Teatros del Canal.

Fundación Orcam has become established in recent years as a driving force in Madrid’s musical life, especially in education. Its projects not only bring classical music closer to new generations, but also help to energise the city’s cultural offering. Orcam headquarters, located in the heart of Madrid, has become a meeting point for families and young people seeking to grow in a demanding and stimulating artistic environment.
