Las Rozas launches 156 rental flats for young people with a swimming pool, gym and coworking
Finding affordable housing near Madrid has become one of the main obstacles for thousands of young people. Las Rozas wants to ease some of that pressure with a new development of 156 protected rental homes, reserved for young people registered in the municipality and intended to make it easier for them to become independent without leaving the area.
The project will be located in Monte Rozas, one of the municipality's fastest-growing neighbourhoods. The new homes will be spread across three low-rise buildings and will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom options. All will include a storage room, at least one parking space and outdoor areas such as a terrace or garden, a feature increasingly valued by those seeking quality of life without leaving the metropolitan area.
The development will also include services that are unusual in this type of project. Future tenants will have access to a swimming pool, gym, padel court, communal rooms, co-working spaces, areas for yoga or Pilates, calisthenics areas and bicycle parking. The aim is to create a residential environment that responds to new ways of living, working and socialising.
The scheme will be built on a municipal plot on Calle Aristóteles, near the health centre and the Monterrozas shopping area. The complex will be built and managed through a concession on public land, a formula increasingly used to promote affordable housing without directly undertaking the development.
This initiative comes at a time when access to housing has become one of the main concerns for under-35s. High purchase and rental prices across much of the Comunidad de Madrid have made moving out more difficult and forced many young people to postpone personal and family decisions.
The new development joins the more than 500 protected homes already under development in other parts of Las Rozas, reinforcing a strategy aimed at increasing the residential supply for those who want to continue living in the municipality without taking on free-market prices.
Monte Rozas has become one of the most sought-after areas in north-west Madrid thanks to its green spaces, facilities, schools and good links with the capital. The arrival of these protected homes may open up a real opportunity for many young people who grew up in the area and who until now had found it increasingly difficult to remain living close to their usual surroundings.
