Tres Cantos modernises its schools with 900,000 euros in improvements
The nine public schools in Tres Cantos are heading into summer with a wide range of works to improve classrooms, playgrounds, dining halls, and sports areas. The City Council will allocate 900,000 euros from the Programa de Inversión Regional to projects that families will start to notice during the next school year.
Air conditioning will account for about half of the budget. New air conditioning units will be installed in classrooms, dining halls, and gyms to reduce the impact of high temperatures and improve comfort during the hottest months.
The rest of the investment will be distributed among the centres according to their needs. There will be renovations in bathrooms, roofs, play areas, sports courts, windows, flooring, and drainage systems, as well as projects to introduce more greenery in the playgrounds.
CEIP Carmen Hernández Guarch will have new recreational areas, while Ciudad de Columbia will improve its dining halls. At Gabriel García Márquez, the eaves will be repaired, and at Miguel de Cervantes, the play areas will be renewed, with some of the sand replaced by rubber and grass added.
Work will also take place at CEIP Aldebarán, where the multi-purpose room will be renovated, and at Carmen Iglesias, where the roof and sports court will be repaired. Ciudad de Nejapa will continue to naturalise its playground, and Tierno Galván will renovate its bathrooms.
One of the largest projects will be carried out at CEIP Antonio Osuna. The centre will improve the gym, flooring, windows, and air conditioning system, with work aimed at modernising several of its main facilities.
These works are part of a broader municipal investment, close to three million euros, allocated this summer for the maintenance and upgrading of educational centres. The aim is to take advantage of the holidays to carry out the works with as little disruption as possible to school activities.
The renovations will allow students and teachers to return to cooler, safer spaces that are better suited to current needs. Playgrounds with more shade and greenery, air-conditioned classrooms, and repaired facilities will change part of the daily routine in the municipality’s public schools.
