New speed camera on Madrid's M-14: 80 km/h limit on the approach to Barajas

The Dirección General de Tráfico has launched a new speed camera at one of the most sensitive points on Madrid’s road network: the M-14, the road linking the M-40 with terminals 1, 2 and 3 of Barajas airport. The Multaradar device is active at kilometre 1.68 and monitors a stretch of just 3.2 kilometres where the maximum permitted speed is set at 80 km/h. After a few weeks of warnings, the speed meter is now fining drivers who exceed the limit. With the legal margin of error, fines begin to apply from 84 km/h. Penalties range from 100 euros with no points deducted to 600 euros and the loss of 6 points in the most serious cases. The location is no coincidence: it is a road with high traffic density, especially from drivers hurrying to the airport. According to the DGT, the measure seeks to reduce accidents and improve safety at a point where numerous speeding offences and risky manoeuvres had been recorded. This speed camera is part of the DGT’s 2025 Plan, which provides for the installation of 122 new devices across Spain throughout the year in order to reinforce monitoring and prevention on roads with high accident rates. In Madrid’s case, speed control on the approaches to Barajas is considered strategic to ensure safer traffic.
