Parcs en concert 2026: free music in nature near Barcelona
The parks of Barcelona province will once again come alive with live sound. The Parcs en concert 2026 series starts on 24 May and will run until the end of November with a free programme bringing singer-songwriter music, pop, folk, Mediterranean song and, this year, classical music too to natural and heritage spaces in the Xarxa de Parcs Naturals.
The first event will take place in the gardens of Montesquiu Castle, with Pehuenche & Edna Bravo, coinciding with the European Day of Parks. Afterwards, the calendar will unfold across different parts of the region, with concerts in churches, squares, castles, viewpoints and green spaces that do not normally function as music venues.
The line-up combines well-known names from the Catalan scene with smaller projects. Among the most eagerly awaited concerts are Pol Batlle in El Brull on 6 June, Sara Roy in Castellar del Vallès on 18 July, Alidé Sans in Sant Jeroni de la Murtra on 3 October and Ramon Mirabet in the square of Castell de Castellet i la Gornal on 17 October.
The programme does not stop at the conventional concert format. The series includes poetry recitals with music and proposals designed to engage with their surroundings. Indeed, the voice serves as a common thread through much of the programme: from singer-songwriter music to choral groups such as Cor Aglepta, which will perform on 21 November at the Sau dam viewpoint.
Admission to the concerts is free, but simply turning up is not enough. Advance registration is compulsory and is handled online, which is important at small venues or natural spaces where capacity cannot increase indefinitely. On several dates, the organisers also tend to link the music with visits, walks or activities to get to know the park hosting each performance better.
For many Barcelona residents, the series serves as an excuse to leave the city without planning a complicated getaway. A midday concert in a castle, an afternoon of music in a square or a performance beside a viewpoint makes for a markedly different usual weekend plan.
Parcs en concert has something that is not always found at major festivals: a human scale. There are no huge stages or races between stages, but artists playing in places where the landscape is part of the concert. And perhaps that is its greatest appeal: listening to music without city noise, with the park all around and the feeling of having discovered a corner one wants to return to.
