Notice in Madrid: bus changes from 27 March to 6 April
Madrid will alter bus routes and timetables between 27 March and 6 April because of Holy Week processions. The changes will particularly affect the city centre and university campuses, with diversions on several lines and temporary suspension of some services.
The most visible changes will be concentrated in the Centro district, where processions will occupy key streets. On notable dates such as 2 and 3 April, with routes such as those of Jesús El Pobre or Cristo de Medinaceli, more diversions and adjustments are expected on lines that pass through the area.
EMT Madrid services will also adapt on university campuses. Lines A and H will stop operating for the whole period, while E, F, G and U will run on a reduced timetable on 27 March before suspending service until 6 April.
There will be alternatives for those who need to travel through these areas. Somosaguas can be reached on the Metro Ligero, while Ciudad Universitaria will be served by Metro line 6 and several bus routes. Options will also remain available for the Vallecas campus.
In addition, line 180 (Legazpi–El Pozo) will be suspended during these days. Normal service across the network is expected on 7 April, once the celebrations have ended.
Beyond the diversions, these changes reflect how the city adapts its mobility to one of its most intense periods of the year. Between processions, cultural plans and a greater influx of visitors, Madrid reorganises its rhythm for a few days, forcing residents and travellers to plan their journeys better and rediscover other ways of getting around the city.
