This is what Easter Week in Barcelona will be like: timetables, routes and key churches
Barcelona hosts an Easter Week from 29 March to 3 April marked by processions in the historic centre and events in landmark churches such as Basílica de la Sagrada Familia. The celebrations will pass through neighbourhoods such as the Gòtic and El Raval, altering the city’s usual rhythm.
The programme begins on Palm Sunday with several processions from the iglesia de Sant Agustí and the iglesia de Santa Anna, which will connect key points in the centre. The events at the basilica of Santa Maria del Pi, one of the most active venues during the day, also stand out.
Maundy Thursday concentrates its activity in the Plaça del Pi, where a night-time processional route will be held, bringing together worshippers and visitors in the heart of the old town.
Good Friday will be the busiest day, with multiple simultaneous processions. These include the routes organised from Sant Jaume and Sant Agustí, as well as the Stations of the Cross at the Sagrada Familia in front of the Passion façade.
Throughout the week, the city’s churches complete the programme with masses, vigils and blessings, broadening the offer beyond the street routes.
