The Sagrada Familia reaches 4.8 million visitors and boosts its economic impact in Barcelona
Tourism in Barcelona once again has a clear main attraction: the Sagrada Familia. In 2025, the temple reached 4.8 million visitors, consolidating its status as one of the most visited monuments in Europe and setting the pace for the Eixample neighbourhood.
The profile of those entering the basilica is predominantly international. Visitors from the Americas stand out, followed by tourists from China, Italy and France, a diversity reflected in the area's daily activity and the global character of its surroundings.
The economic impact is also significant. The Sagrada Familia generated €134 million in income during the year, of which 96% came from ticket sales. A key part of these resources—€113 million—is allocated directly to construction work, while the rest covers operating expenses and social programmes promoted by the institution itself.
These figures reflect not only the monument's appeal, but also its weight in the urban economy. Local businesses, services and activities adapt to a constant flow of visitors that forms part of the neighbourhood's everyday life.
Beyond the numbers, the Sagrada Familia remains a project in evolution. Since its beginning in 1882, the basilica has accompanied Barcelona's transformation and remains a symbol combining heritage, tourism and social development in the city.
