Historic record at the Anella Olímpica: concerts and Barça drive up attendance

Barcelona’s Olympic Ring closed 2025 with unprecedented figures: 198 events and more than 2.4 million attendees, consolidating Montjuïc as the epicentre of culture and sport in the city. The 15% increase in the number of events and 11% more attendees than in 2024 drove this record, placing the venue among the international elite for major events.

The complex, which includes the Estadi Olímpic, the Palau Sant Jordi and the Sant Jordi Club, was active for 351 days, including set-ups and dismantling. According to municipal data, 42% of attendees come from Barcelona and its metropolitan area, 34% from the rest of Catalonia, 16% from other parts of Spain and more than 7% from abroad.

In 2025, FC Barcelona’s presence was key: the club played 24 matches at Montjuïc, exceeding one million spectators, because it was impossible to use the new Camp Nou. However, music remains the great driving force: 116 concerts brought together almost 1.2 million people. The Palau Sant Jordi hosted 58 dates, the Sant Jordi Club 51 and the Estadi Olímpic 7 major nights.

Among the international artists who chose the Ring as their only stop in Spain were Ateez, Tomorrow X Together, Guns N’ Roses, Billie Eilish, Ado, Kendrick Lamar, Blackpink, Post Malone, Lady Gaga, Jamiroquai and Mumford & Sons. Lady Gaga gave three concerts, while Quevedo, Sabina, Rauw Alejandro, Antonio Orozco, Rels B and Mike Towers returned for two dates. National artists such as Amaia, Aitana, Rigoberta Bandini, Mushka and Loquillo also triumphed.

2026 promises to keep up the pace: sell-outs have already been announced for El Último de la Fila, Bad Bunny, Oques Grasses and The Weeknd at the Estadi Olímpic. At the Palau Sant Jordi, Fito & Fitipaldis, Hans Zimmer, Rosalía, Aitana and La Oreja de Van Gogh sold out several dates.

Montjuïc’s programme is not limited to music. In 2025, the venue hosted family shows, sporting, corporate events and filming, adding up to 58 events and nearly 200,000 spectators. These included Disney on Ice, Cirque du Soleil, the Catalunya–Palestina charity match, Trial Indoor Barcelona and the Premier Padel Finals.

In sport, the major event of 2026 will be the Tour de Francia’s departure from Montjuïc on 4 and 5 July. Trial Indoor Barcelona will also return on 8 February. BSM, the municipal management company, highlights the success of the public-private management model and the potential of the Ring as an integrated space that respects its surroundings.

Looking to the future, the complex is preparing a key transformation: in 2026 the winning project to renovate the Sant Jordi Club will be known; it will become a concert venue with flexible capacity between 3,500 and 9,000 people, with planned investment of 70 million euros. Improvements to the Estadi and the Palau are also planned, along with an efficient renovation of the esplanade lighting.
