Recognition in Madrid: the Government receives Spain's Paralympic team after its success at Milano Cortina 2026

Pedro Sánchez has received at La Moncloa the Spanish team that competed in the Juegos Paralímpicos de Invierno Milano Cortina 2026, in an act of institutional recognition of its performance. The president stressed the “enormous pride” felt by Spanish society in watching them compete, highlighting both the effort made and the enthusiasm they conveyed during the Games.

During the reception, the head of government made special mention of skier Audrey Pascual, whom he thanked for the “heap of medals” won at the Paralympic event: two golds, one silver and one bronze. Sánchez said that Pascual has become a reference point for many young people (and not so young people), exemplifying the team’s inspiring impact beyond sport.

Also present at the event were the Minister for Education, Formación Profesional y Deportes, Milagros Tolón, and the president of Consejo Superior de Deportes, José Manuel Uribes, who accompanied the president in this recognition. Sánchez wished to emphasise the “very firm and unwavering commitment” of all administrations to make athletes’ participation in the Juegos Paralímpicos visible and encourage it, in line with the provisions of the Ley del Deporte approved in 2022.
