Semana Santa pushes hotel occupancy in Barcelona up to 85% and brings Catalonia close to full
Barcelona ended Semana Santa with hotel occupancy close to 85%, driven by good weather and high demand for getaways, while several destinations in the rest of Catalonia were nearly fully booked.

Barcelona experienced an Easter Week with hotels almost full. The good weather and the desire to travel have driven occupancy up to 85%. In the rest of Catalonia, some destinations have come close to being completely full. The conflict in the Middle East has barely affected tourism.
Easter Week has transformed Barcelona into a hive of visitors, with hotels reaching occupancy figures not seen for years. The tourism sector has received a notable boost thanks to high temperatures and the desire for short breaks, placing hotel occupancy in the city at around 85%.
During the central days of the holiday, especially between Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday, demand for accommodation soared. Hotels in the centre and the most tourist-oriented areas put up almost-full signs, reflecting a trend of stability and confidence in the recovery of urban tourism.
Outside Barcelona, the situation has been even more intense in some parts of Catalonia, where occupancy at tourist establishments has come close to 90% and destinations in high demand have even reached full capacity. The good weather has encouraged both domestic and international visitors to choose the region for their holidays.
The international context, marked by the conflict in the Middle East, has barely had an impact on the arrival of tourists in Barcelona. Hoteliers consider that the impact has been very limited and has only affected specific Asian markets with no direct connection to the city.
According to the Federación Intercomarcal d’Hostaleria, Restauració i Turisme, the assessment is very positive, although they acknowledge that global uncertainty and the economic consequences of the conflict have slightly influenced visitors' spending. Many tourists have waited until the last moment to decide to travel and have moderated their purchases in shops and leisure activities.
Easter Week thus confirms the appeal of Barcelona and Catalonia as leading destinations, capable of maintaining solid figures even in an uncertain international context.
The Gremi d’Hotels de Barcelona is one of the most influential organisations in the city's tourism sector. It brings together most hotels and urban accommodation providers, and plays a key role in promoting Barcelona as an international destination. In addition to providing occupancy data and trends, it promotes initiatives to improve service quality and sustainability in local tourism. Its work is fundamental to anticipating changes in demand and adapting the offer to the new realities of the market.
Apartment and profile data (6 Apr 2026): Apartur 85% (37,000 tourists: Germany/UK/France); 90% of families prefer flats. Moderate spending due to uncertainty (last-minute bookings). Barcelona 85% hotels (Gremi Casals).
