More trains and staff on Metro to handle the main days of San Isidro

The measure comes at a time when concerts, street parties, and large-scale events are concentrated in areas such as the Pradera de San Isidro, La Latina, Carabanchel, and the centre, where every afternoon thousands of people head almost simultaneously to the main stages of the fiestas.

On Thursday the 15th, a public holiday in Madrid, the reinforcement will begin gradually. Line 1 will increase its frequency from 17:00, line 5 from 18:00, and lines 2 and 3 from 21:00. The plan will remain in place until the end of service.

Friday the 16th will be one of the busiest days of the operation. Line 5 will have more trains from 10:00 in the morning due to expected travel towards the Pradera and the surrounding celebration areas. Lines 1, 2, and 3 will again be reinforced from 18:00. On Saturday the 17th, the same afternoon and evening schedule will be repeated on all four lines.

In addition to more trains, Metro will deploy extra staff at key stations to manage access, speed up movement on platforms, and prevent crowding during peak hours. Some stations near the events may experience occasional congestion during the night.

Line 5 is once again one of the most important during San Isidro because of its connection to several key points of the fiestas. Lines 1 and 2 also tend to handle much of the night-time traffic when concerts and activities in the centre finish.

Every May, public transport in Madrid shifts into a completely different rhythm. The fiestas de San Isidro generate one of the largest movements of people in the city each year, requiring adjustments to schedules, frequencies, and security measures to keep a network running that during these days hardly rests at all.
