Sabadell begins the major transformation of the Eix Macià car park with 248 spaces

Sabadell is taking a decisive step in the modernisation of Eix Macià by awarding the works to transform the unpaved car park next to Parc Catalunya. With an investment of 1,677,871 Ђ, the City Council is committed to turning this space into a modern, accessible and green car park, responding to a longstanding demand from residents.

The project, part of the municipal plan «Els diners als carrers» and the Rellancem l’Eix strategy, provides for the creation of 248 spaces, of which 12 will be adapted for people with reduced mobility, 6 will have charging points for electric vehicles, 12 will be for motorcycles and 34 for bicycles. Comprehensive paving will eliminate dust and improve users' safety and comfort.

Among the new features is a new pedestrian crossing that will connect avenida de los Paraires with avenida de Lluís Companys, facilitating mobility and accessibility in the area. In addition, more than 170 trees will be planted and the existing vegetation renewed, reinforcing the green character of the space and its landscape integration.

The site will also have video-surveillance cameras, new lighting, benches and strategically placed litter bins. An area near Eix Macià will be reserved for large-scale events, giving the city a new multipurpose area for civic activities.

This action adds to other improvements planned in the area, such as the remodelling of pavements, expansion of terraces, new cycle lanes and the transformation of plaça de la Concòrdia. The overall plan foresees municipal investment of 12 million euros and, according to the City Council, all works on Eix Macià will be completed by the end of 2026.
