San Blas-Canillejas will open a new park in autumn with 70 trees and play areas

The Madrid district of San Blas-Canillejas is preparing to welcome a new green space. The Rejas neighbourhood will have a park of over 13,300 square metres in autumn 2025, currently under construction, which will transform an undeveloped plot into a public space designed for gathering, relaxation, and outdoor life.

The project, promoted by the Ayuntamiento de Madrid, responds to a long-standing demand from local residents and will bring a substantial change to the urban landscape of the neighbourhood. The new park will feature 70 trees of various species and more than 6,000 shrubs, distributed along pedestrian paths, shaded areas, rest zones, and two fully equipped children's play areas. Benches, drinking fountains, and internal routes designed for daily walks and socialising will also be installed.

The work, with an estimated completion time of six months, adds to other interventions in the district, such as the redevelopment of the green area on Calle de Estocolmo and improvements in Parque Paraíso. All these actions are part of an urban regeneration plan aimed at improving air quality, restoring biodiversity, and fostering a more sustainable and connected life between neighbourhoods. San Blas-Canillejas will soon be not only greener, but also more liveable.
