Sant Adrià is reborn by the sea: new beach and coastal park will unite the metropolitan coast
Sant Adrià de Besòs is about to transform its maritime boundary with an ambitious project that will restore the city’s historic connection with the sea.
The Ayuntamiento is promoting the diversion of the Llevant coastal collector, an infrastructure that currently restricts access to the coast, in order to free up space and create a large green area facing the sea.
This action will make it possible to gain new metres of beach and open a pedestrian and cycle corridor linking Sant Adrià with Badalona and Barcelona, facilitating mobility and improving the environmental integration of the metropolitan coast. Soil decontamination and sand regeneration are part of the plan to offer residents and visitors a renewed, high-quality leisure space.
The project, coordinated with the Ministerio del Interior and Costas, follows the recent reopening of Litoral beach and coincides with other milestones in urban revitalisation, such as the transformation of les Tres Xemeneies into an audiovisual hub and Inditex's arrival in the area.
