CarxoTapa in Sant Boi: 30 bars offer artichoke tapas with a drink for €4 from 5 to 29 March

March turns Sant Boi into a culinary epicentre. The city celebrates Artichoke Month with tapas routes, special menus and family activities. The event culminates on 29 March with the eagerly awaited Carxofada. Restaurants, markets and local organisations take part.

The arrival of March marks an unmissable date in Sant Boi de Llobregat for those who enjoy local gastronomy and living traditions. Artichoke Month returns in force, placing this emblematic product at the centre of urban and social life. For weeks, the city fills with culinary proposals, tapas routes and activities for all audiences, consolidating the artichoke as a symbol of identity and a driver of the local economy.

This year, community involvement is more visible than ever. Restaurants, farmers, municipal markets, associations and educational centres are joining forces to offer a diverse programme. A record 22 establishments are taking part in the CarxoTapa route and 16 in CarxoMenú, showing the sector's dynamism and its commitment to local produce. The City Council stresses that this edition invites both residents and visitors to discover the flavours of the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat and enjoy healthy food.

The CarxoTapa route, running from 5 to 29 March, proposes touring Sant Boi while tasting creative artichoke tapas, accompanied by a drink for four euros. Participants can vote for their favourite tapa of 2026 and, by getting the Pasaporte Carxofer stamped at four different venues, enter a draw for product lots from the Cooperativa Agrària Santboiana. At the same time, the CarxoMenú signature menus explore all the possibilities of artichokes in 16 restaurants in the city.

On Saturdays, Plaça de la República becomes a family meeting point with CarxoKids workshops for children and the CarxoSound music programme, which this year adds a special late-afternoon gathering on 14 March, organised by Triavins and Sant Boi Comerç. These activities reinforce the event's festive and participatory character, bringing food culture to all ages.

The grand finale will arrive on Sunday 29 March with the traditional Carxofada, a celebration that since 1999 has brought together thousands of people in the heart of Sant Boi. Between Plaça de l'Ajuntament and the rambla, the day will offer children's workshops, showcookings, lace-maker displays, direct sales of farm produce and live music with DJ Alex Gruess. Around 5,000 people are expected to attend and 1,700 meals will be prepared using 2,000 kilos of artichokes, served in 8,500 tapas and 1,700 desserts. Food service will be organised in four sittings, with tickets available online and at physical points for €15 in advance and €18 on the day.

The Carxofada de Sant Boi has established itself as one of the major food festivals in the metropolitan area. Beyond the tasting, the event showcases the joint work of local restaurateurs and farmers, who each year manage to surprise people with new proposals and impeccable organisation. The event not only celebrates the quality of Baix Llobregat artichokes, but also reinforces the link between city and territory, promoting responsible consumption and the local economy.
