Sant Celoni recovers its municipal swimming pool twenty years later
Sant Celoni now has a new municipal swimming pool after two decades without this service. The facility, located in the Can Sans sports area, offers the municipality's almost 19,000 inhabitants a public space to cool down, play sport and enjoy summer without leaving the locality.
The facility will remain open every day from 10:00 to 20:00 until 11 September. In addition to open swimming, the programme will include sporting activities, activities aimed at young people and a poolside library service for reading and resting by the water.
The complex has a 600-square-metre leisure pool, accessible by ramp and with a maximum depth of 1.60 metres. Beside it is a 185-square-metre children’s pool, also adapted and designed for younger children.
The setting is completed by a solarium of around 4,000 square metres equipped with artificial grass, pergolas and trees. The layout aims to offer shaded areas and comfortable spaces for families, groups of friends and visitors who want to spend several hours at the site.
The service building includes access control, an infirmary and changing rooms with individual and family cubicles. During this first season, a food truck will provide food and drink, while a bar-restaurant with a terrace is planned for next summer.
Access has also been strengthened with parking for 68 vehicles and spaces reserved for bicycles. Its location within Can Sans makes it possible to integrate the pool with the municipality’s other sports facilities.
Entry is free for children under four. For other visitors, individual prices range from 4 to 6 euros depending on age and day, and monthly and season passes, as well as family options, are also available.
The opening responds to demand from local residents that had persisted since the old pool closed in 2006. With the new facility, Sant Celoni expands its leisure and sports offering in a summer marked by high temperatures and the search for accessible public spaces.
