List of the world’s happiest countries in 2025 is published
Five European Union countries are among the top ten.
It is not about constant laughter or overflowing euphoria. Happiness, at least according to the World Happiness Report 2025, has much more to do with calm, trust and a well-woven life. This is demonstrated by Finland, which for the eighth consecutive year occupies first place among the happiest countries on the planet.
The recipe for Finnish success is not a miraculous secret, but a sum of factors that work like well-adjusted gears: access to nature, strong public services, quality education and a strong commitment to equality. “Here, happiness translates into knowing that you are not alone, that the system supports you and that your time matters,” says Miika Mäkitalo, CEO of HappyOrNot.
After Finland, the podium is completed by Denmark, Iceland and Sweden. In these countries, social support, community cohesion and the balance between personal and professional life are pillars supporting collective wellbeing.
But the report goes further. It reveals that sharing a meal, having a support network and practising small acts of generosity have more emotional impact than many economic indicators. Poland, for example, enters the top 10 thanks to its high average number of shared meals per week, while Estonia, with low figures for social interaction, closes the list.
In a Europe where loneliness is growing, especially among younger people, the report is clear: looking at one another again, listening to one another and sitting together at the table can be a revolutionary act. Because, in the end, true happiness is cooked in everyday life.
