Madrid starts September with F1, four Aitana nights and major festivals
Madrid enters September with one of the busiest calendars of the year. The first Formula 1 Grand Prix at Madring, four Aitana concerts, major music festivals, the La Melonera and Aravaca festivities, and several art and fashion events are spread across the city from this Tuesday the 1st until the final days of the month.
Activity begins in the first week. The main draw of the Comunidad de Madrid Premier Padel P1 takes place from 1 to 6 September at the Movistar Arena, after the qualifying rounds held in Coslada. At the same time, the Festival Internacional de Piano Madrid a Tempo occupies the CIEM Federico Moreno Torroba from the 1st to the 6th.
Neighbourhoods are also bringing back their local festivities. La Melonera will be held in Arganzuela from 3 to 6 September, with the main venue on the Madrid Río esplanade and concerts by La Frontera, Rafa Sánchez, Sole Giménez, Marazu and Radio Macandé, as well as family activities and the traditional fun run. In Aravaca, the Nuestra Señora del Buen Camino festivities maintain fairground activity from 31 August to 9 September, with the bulk of the cultural programme from the 3rd to the 8th.
The first major music festival will arrive in Villaverde on 4 and 5 September. Coca-Cola Music Experience will take over the Iberdrola Music venue, on Calle Laguna Dalga, with artists such as Melendi, Wisin, Natalia Lacunza, Ruslana, YSY A and Violeta. Doors are scheduled to open from 13:00 and concerts from 16:00. The venue is around a 20-minute walk from Villaverde Alto and around ten minutes from San Cristóbal Industrial.
The following weekend will bring together two of the highest-impact events. Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend will run from 10 to 13 September, with more than 60 galleries and activities in areas such as Lavapiés, Letras, Salesas, Chamberí and Salamanca. Many of its offerings are free, although some require prior registration.
Between Friday the 11th and Sunday the 13th, the month's newest event will arrive: the first Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix to be held at the new Madring circuit, around IFEMA and Valdebebas. The event will bring the competition to a track combining permanent and urban sections and will concentrate a large share of attention and travel in north-east Madrid for three days.
That same Friday the 11th sees the start of a series of four Aitana concerts at the Movistar Arena. The singer will perform on 11, 12, 14 and 15 September as part of her Cuarto Azul World Tour. The first two dates are announced for 21:00 and the following ones for 20:30.
Fashion will take over immediately afterwards. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid will hold its spring-summer 2027 edition from 14 to 19 September, with shows spread between IFEMA and different spaces in the city. This year's programme includes venues such as the Invernadero del Palacio de Cristal de Arganzuela and the Galería de Cristal.
The weekend of the 18th and 19th will bring Jardín de las Delicias, with Dani Martín, Viva Suecia, Nil Moliner and Taburete among the announced names. One day later, on 20 September, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano will host the first league derby of the season between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid.
The final part of the month will also feature activity spread across several districts. Hotel Tapa Tour will run from 17 to 27 September in different hotels around the city; Estampa will occupy Pavilion 5 at IFEMA from the 24th to the 27th; and BeerMad will be held from 25 to 27 beside Enrique Tierno Galván Park, on Avenida del Planetario, with free entry. The Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza will close September with the opening, on the 29th, of a temporary exhibition dedicated to Kenny Scharf.
