Serielizados Fest returns to Barcelona with premieres and Steven Moffat
Barcelona will once again become a meeting point for series fans from 19 to 28 October. The 13th edition of Serielizados Fest will offer premieres, conversations with creators, tributes and special sessions across several cultural venues and cinemas in the centre.

One of the programme’s big names will be Steven Moffat, creator of ‘Sherlock’ and a key figure in ‘Doctor Who’. The Scottish screenwriter will travel to Barcelona to look back over his career and talk with the public about the writing and production of some of the most popular British dramas of recent decades.
Producer Sue Vertue, associated with titles such as ‘Sherlock’ and ‘Mr. Bean’, will also take part. Her presence will offer an insight into the work that takes place behind the cameras and into how a British series goes from script to becoming an international phenomenon.
The opening will be marked by ‘In vitro’, the dramedy created by Alejandra Guimerà and Marc Crehuet. Set in an assisted-reproduction clinic, the drama addresses fertility, personal relationships and new family models before arriving on 3Cat and HBO Max.
The programme will also include ‘Segunda temporada’, Miguel Ángel Blanca’s new series for Filmin. The story follows a writer who, after becoming a generational voice, goes through a creative crisis and agrees to work on the biography of a fading trap star.
The festival will revisit part of Catalan television memory with an event marking 30 years of ‘Nissaga de poder’. Emma Vilarasau, Jordi Bosch and Lluís Arcarazo are among those expected to recall a drama that marked an entire generation of TV3 viewers.
The closing will have a Barcelona flavour with ‘El principi d’Arquimedes’, the first instalment of Episòdic. The project adapts Josep Maria Miró’s work in six short episodes and involves students from the city’s universities and audiovisual schools.
Activities will be held at CCCB, Mooby Aribau, Phenomena and Casa Cupra Raval, as well as through a programming window on Filmin. That distribution will link the festival with Raval, Eixample and different parts of the centre without concentrating the entire programme at a single venue.
The slogan “Keep your eyes open” sums up an edition that aims to help audiences find their way through the avalanche of premieres. For ten days, Barcelona will replace domestic viewing in front of a screen with full theatres, live conversations and queues to discover a series before it reaches streaming platforms.
