Madrid transport pass rises: the youth pass will see the smallest increase

From 1 July 2025, public transport users in the Comunidad de Madrid will notice a significant increase in the price of 30-day travel passes. However, the youth pass, intended for people aged between 15 and 25, will be the least affected by this increase, retaining a 50% discount on its original price. According to the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid, the general support applied until now to all passes will fall from 60% to 40%, which means considerable increases for standard passes. For example, in Zone A, the pass will rise from €21.80 to €32.80, an increase of more than €10. By contrast, the youth pass will only rise from €8.00 to €10.00, remaining an affordable option valid across all transport zones.

This measure aims to preserve access to public transport among younger people, while those under 15 and over 65 will continue to travel free. Despite the reduction in the discount from 60% to 40% for other passes, the price of the youth pass remains under control, especially in comparison with the increases for the other groups. With these new fares, Madrid public transport adjusts its prices after a long period of special discounts, while retaining support measures for key groups such as young people and older people. Although the youth pass is increasing, it remains the most economical alternative for travelling throughout the region.
