Highs rise in Madrid, but intense heat has yet to arrive
Madrid faces a settled and slightly warmer day this Friday, 28 August, during the central hours. Maximum temperatures will rise slightly compared with Thursday, while minimums will fall, leaving a cool morning across much of the region.
The sky will remain lightly cloudy or clear for much of the day. Only in the Sierra will some developing clouds appear during the middle hours, with AEMET not expecting significant rainfall for the day.
In Madrid city, temperatures will range roughly between 13 and 25 degrees. The contrast will be particularly noticeable early on, when a light jacket may be useful, compared with an afternoon that will be much more pleasant for terraces, walks or outdoor activities.
Alcalá de Henares and Getafe will reach around 26 degrees, with lows close to 13. Aranjuez will once again be among the warmest places in the region, with a high of about 27 degrees after an early morning that will be around 12.
In the west and the Sierra, the change will be somewhat more pronounced. Collado Villalba will go from around 11 degrees early in the day to close to 26 in the afternoon, while other higher-altitude municipalities will keep nights considerably cooler than those in central Madrid.
The wind will blow lightly, mainly from the west, and will tend to lose a defined direction at the end of the day. It will therefore not be a Friday marked by adverse phenomena or major changes in the weather.
The day will also serve as a transition towards a warmer weekend. Forecasts point to a more evident rise on Saturday and Sunday, when Madrid will once again approach and then exceed 30 degrees in many places.
Friday thus brings a brief respite before summer regains strength: a cool morning, open skies and a mild afternoon that will make it possible to enjoy being outdoors without the intense heat of other August days.
