The Festival by Salesas returns this Saturday after the summer break

The event takes place mainly on Campoamor Street, between Fernando VI and Orellana; Orellana Street, between Campoamor and Santa Bárbara; and around Santa Bárbara Square as far as Alonso Martínez. Depending on the number of participants, the route may extend to other nearby streets.

The usual hours will be from 11:30 to 20:00. In some areas, such as Campoamor and Santa Teresa, the programme may continue until 20:30. As it is an outdoor event, the organisers warn that the timetable and the course of the day may be altered for weather-related or logistical reasons.

Unlike a conventional street market, The Festival by Salesas focuses especially on small brands, designers, craftspeople and businesses connected with the neighbourhood itself. The stalls combine clothing and accessories with illustration, decoration, jewellery and food products, while establishments on nearby streets take part in the day.

The September edition also has a particular feature: it is the first after the summer break. The market is usually set up on the first Saturday of each month, but it is not held in July and August, so the day brings back an activity that has not occupied the streets of Salesas since June.

There is no need to buy a ticket or book to walk around the stalls. The location can be reached on foot from Chueca, Alonso Martínez, Colón or Recoletos, an especially practical alternative given that the event occupies several streets in a central area where on-street parking is limited.

Anyone wishing to attend the September edition specifically should check the programme shortly before travelling. Madrid’s official tourism calendar lists 5 September as the next date, although it is still shown as awaiting final confirmation, and it notes that the calendar may be subject to changes.
