Pre-New Year's Eve celebrations return to Puerta del Sol in 2025 with defined hours, capacity and access so visitors can enjoy the festive atmosphere with DJs and a musical show before New Year's Eve.
Puerta del Sol is preparing to welcome thousands of people on 30 December for the celebration of the Preúvas 2025. This event, which serves as a dress rehearsal for New Year's Eve, will allow 15,000 attendees to experience the excitement of the chimes one day before the New Year.
The Preúvas are a Madrid tradition in which participants simulate the arrival of the new year, following the same ritual as on the night of 31 December. The rehearsal helps the clockmakers at the Real Casa de Correos check that the iconic clock is working before the big occasion.
Access to the square will be available from 10 pm, following a prior three-hour evacuation to ensure safety and crowd-capacity control. The countdown will begin at midnight, when attendees will be able to eat the grapes and celebrate as if it were the last night of the year.
Music will take centre stage from 10.45 pm to 11.59 pm, with DJs enlivening the wait and creating a unique festive atmosphere. At 12 am, the eagerly awaited rehearsal of the chimes will take place, marking the start of the countdown to 2025.
