Three Madrid murals compete to be the best in the world in 2025
Three Madrid murals by Murfin, Leyvel and Sfhir are finalists in world urban art; vote before 31 January.
Madrid is positioning itself as an international reference point for urban art in 2025. Three murals in the capital have been selected among the best in the world by the Street Art Cities platform, placing the city at the epicentre of global creativity.
Works by Murfin, Leyvel and Sfhir have managed to stand out among hundreds of proposals from cities such as Lisbon, Miami and São Paulo. Each of these pieces has been chosen as the best of its month and they now compete in the final phase, where the public can vote until 31 January.
Murfin's mural 'Lost Children' is on the side façade at Calle Tesillo 1 in Fuenlabrada. The work shows a girl hugging a toy crocodile, surrounded by vibrant colours, and forms part of the Museo de Arte Urbano de Fuenlabrada (MAUF).
For his part, Leyvel has surprised audiences with 'Chase Your Star', a 180-square-metre 3D mural at CEIP Regimiento Inmemorial del Rey, at 51 Avenida de Moratalaz. The three-dimensional effect, created together with Ricardo Rolland, turns the wall into a unique visual experience within the 'Muraltalaz' project.
The third finalist work is by Sfhir, who has paid tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Alcalá de Henares Fire Station. The mural, inaugurated in June, depicts a Madrid firefighter in action and can be seen on the façade of the station itself.
Madrid does not stand out only for its museums and galleries. Urban art has become an essential attraction, with projects such as 'CUBOS Madrid' in Plaza de los Cubos, the colourful forest at IES Emperatriz María de Austria, or Jaune's iconic characters and Muelle's signature on Calle Cava Alta.
