59-year-old motorcyclist dies after colliding with a car in Patones
A 59-year-old motorcyclist died this Sunday after colliding with a car on the M-134 road in the municipality of Patones. The accident occurred at around 9:30 in the morning and required emergency services to be deployed on a road widely used by residents and those travelling to the northern part of the Community of Madrid.
The impact was very severe. According to Emergencias 112 Comunidad de Madrid, the motorcyclist was thrown several metres and went into cardiorespiratory arrest. When they arrived, SUMMA 112 paramedics began resuscitation manoeuvres, which continued for about 40 minutes. They were unable to reverse the arrest and eventually confirmed the death.
The Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation to clarify how the collision occurred. For now, no further details have emerged about the dynamics of the accident or the condition of the driver of the car involved.
The incident affected traffic on the M-134 during the morning, with temporary closures and diversions while emergency teams worked. On roads like this, narrow and with irregular sections, any intervention requires slowing down or reorganising the flow of vehicles.
The Patones area usually sees a lot of activity at weekends, especially from motorcyclists, cyclists, and drivers heading to the mountains or nearby villages. These roads are attractive for the scenery, but also demanding: bends, changes in gradient, and the mix of different types of vehicles.
The accident leaves a harsh image on a Sunday morning that for many had started as just another outing. On secondary roads, the margin for error is small and the body is much more exposed on a motorcycle. All it takes is a crossing, a manoeuvre, or a misjudged distance for a leisure trip to end in tragedy.
