Young man seriously injured by a shooting in Chamberí
Madrid is experiencing hours of concern following the shooting on Almansa Street, in the Chamberí district. A 23-year-old man was seriously injured after being shot in the shoulder in the middle of the afternoon, in an area that is usually busy.
The incident took place shortly after 16:00 on Friday, 20 March, when a hooded man approached the victim, shouted something at him and opened fire. The young man tried to flee, but fell wounded. Samur teams managed to stabilise him before he was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
The attacker fled immediately. Some witnesses indicate that he may have been travelling by scooter and had been loitering in the area for several minutes. The proximity to the Jefatura Superior de Policía facilitated a rapid police response, which is already working to collect evidence and identify the attacker.
The investigation remains open and no hypothesis has been ruled out, from a possible settling of scores to a conflict between groups. The absence of arrests maintains uncertainty over what happened.
