A Barcelona neighbourhood inspires the new electric Cupra that debuted in Munich
At the IAA Mobility Summit in Munich, the Cupra Raval has been unveiled, a prototype that makes the streets of El Raval part of its identity: the map of the Barcelona neighbourhood runs across its bodywork like a mark of origin.
Markus Haupt, CEO of Cupra and Seat, defined it as “rebellious, unconventional and authentically Barcelonan”, values with which the brand wants to associate its new urban electric vehicle.
The model, which will start being made in Martorell in 2026, will be the first electric vehicle to leave this plant and will open the Volkswagen group's range of affordable urban cars. Its global launch will be held in March in Barcelona, reinforcing the link between the brand and the city that gives it character.
The Cupra Raval represents not only daring design, but also the result of the €10 billion commitment to electrifying Spanish factories. The company hopes to win over a young urban audience with a car that does not forget its roots.
In this way, Raval, a neighbourhood of contrasts and creativity, gives its name to a vehicle that wants to mark a before and after in European electric mobility.
