Madrid adds free concerts and an April jazz special at Biblioteca Víctor Espinós

Biblioteca Musical Víctor Espinós boosts Madrid's cultural life with free concerts and workshops in April. International Jazz Day is celebrated with live music. An opportunity to discover new sounds right in the centre.

The month of April brings a different proposal for those looking for cultural plans in Madrid without leaving the centre. Biblioteca Musical Víctor Espinós, located in the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque, has prepared a special programme that invites people to discover music from unusual perspectives and with free access.

The programme begins on Thursday 9 April with 'Voces de Ensueño: Viaje Lírico por Europa', a recital designed for those who enjoy classical singing in an intimate setting. Colombian soprano Kamila Vargas, with a solid career as a soloist, will perform arias and emblematic pieces such as 'Una voce poco fa', 'Aus Liebe' and 'Frühlingsstimmen'.

On Friday 10 April, Iranian musician Hamid Vodjanpak will introduce the public to the ney, a wind instrument of Persian origin. His educational and practical workshop will make it possible to learn about the history and basic techniques of this instrument, present in different musical traditions.

On Thursday 16 April, the library joins International Jazz Day with a free concert by the Combo de Jazz of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Under the direction of Brazilian pianist André JahJah, the group will offer a repertoire spanning jazz, blues, bossa nova and Latin music, with an emphasis on improvisation and fresh arrangements.

April's programme is completed on Friday 17 with a performance by the Saudade ensemble, a quartet made up of a violinist, violist, cellist and pianist. All activities will take place in the choir room, on the second floor of the tower, at 19:00, with free entry until capacity is reached.

Biblioteca Musical Víctor Espinós is one of those spaces that go unnoticed by many people from Madrid, but which have been bringing music to the city for decades. In addition to its specialist collection and instrument lending, the library is committed to activities that connect diverse audiences with musical creation.
