A giant demon presides over Badalona beach to launch the Festes de Maig
Badalona is already celebrating the arrival of its 2025 Festes de Maig with an imposing image by the sea: the traditional Dimoni figure has been installed on Platja dels Pescadors, where it will remain until 10 May.
This iconic installation marks the start of one of the most eagerly awaited festivities on the Catalan cultural calendar.
This year, the chosen design is titled «El Voluntari més Endimoniat», a work by Jason Sánchez, which pays tribute to the spirit of solidarity shown during the DANA in València. For the first time, the construction of the Dimoni has been carried out by the visual artist Carles Piera, who has managed to give the figure a unique visual strength, full of symbolism and emotion.
The presence of the demon on the beach is the prelude to the great Cremada del Dimoni, which will take place during the Nit de Sant Anastasi, in a spectacle that every year brings together thousands of people amid fire, music, and tradition. In the meantime, locals and visitors can come and take a closer look at this figure which, as is customary, will burn to make way for renewal and collective celebration.
