Madrid activates a free weekend in Parque de Berlín with plans for every age
This weekend Madrid transforms Parque de Berlín into one of the city’s major meeting points. The space hosts a free programme of sport, workshops, concerts and shows designed for families, young people and residents of every age.
The programme kicks off with sports activities that change the usual pace of the park. Mini hockey, mini football, zumba, and participatory games fill the green areas with movement, while teenagers and young people take centre stage with skateboarding, calisthenics, and urban workshops.
The atmosphere also spreads to the auditorium and other cultural spaces in the district. Live music, theatre, batucada drumming, and children's performances turn Chamartín into an open stage throughout the weekend.
Saturday and Sunday feature many of the most visible activities. There will be kart circuits, archery, table football, magic, karaoke, and demonstrations by municipal services, as well as creative activities for children and families.
The event coincides with the Día Internacional de las Familias and reinforces a growing trend in Madrid: bringing free, community-based leisure to the neighbourhoods, beyond the city centre and the usual large-scale events.
Parque de Berlín thus strengthens its role as a social and cultural space in Chamartín. When these places fill with activity, the city changes pace and turns public space into a real part of everyday life.
