‘Temps de Gràcia’ rediscovers the neighbourhood through urban drawing
Vila de Gràcia becomes the subject of a new perspective inviting people to rediscover the neighbourhood through everyday life. The book Temps de Gràcia, illustrated by Feliu Renom, offers a visual journey through its streets, squares and most recognisable scenes, capturing what often goes unnoticed day to day.
The work brings together 120 illustrations that portray neighbourhood life with precision and sensitivity. Spaces such as plaça del Sol, Revolució, Diamant and Virreina appear as meeting points where generations cross paths, while streets such as Verdi and rambla del Prat reflect the pedestrian-friendly, close-knit character that defines Gràcia.
Beyond the architecture, the book focuses on local life. Historic shops, bars and cultural spaces form part of the journey, showing a social fabric that endures and evolves with the passage of time. The result is a portrait that mixes memory, identity and the present.
The final section explores the neighbourhood's festive dimension, with scenes from celebrations such as Festa Major de Gràcia and Sant Medir. These images connect with the neighbourhood's collective pulse, where the street becomes a stage and tradition is experienced together.
Renom, linked to the Urban Sketchers movement, transfers the essence of urban sketching to paper: drawing from life to capture life as it happens. His perspective turns every corner into a unique scene, reinforcing the idea that the city can also be read through drawing.
