A mural featuring Rosalía's face brings colour to the Manuel Torrente gardens in Gràcia
The image of Rosalía, one of the most internationally renowned Catalan artists, now shines in one of the most iconic corners of the Gràcia neighbourhood.
A mural featuring her portrait has been unveiled in the Manuel Torrente gardens. It is the work of Barcelona artist Adrià Bosch, known for his vibrant style and his ability to blend popular culture with urban art.
The large-scale piece combines red, pink and gold tones that evoke the singer's flamenco aesthetic and stage energy. Bosch has explained that his intention was ‘to pay tribute to a figure who has known how to reinvent Catalan tradition from modernity’, and that the mural is intended to become ‘a contemporary symbol of local talent with global reach’.
The mural forms part of a municipal programme of artistic interventions in public space, aimed at revitalising neighbourhoods and bringing art closer to citizens. In this case, Rosalía's face joins the series of urban portraits that Adrià Bosch has dedicated to Barcelona's cultural figures.
Neighbours and curious onlookers have already come to see the work, which promises to become a new point of interest in Gràcia, a neighbourhood where the walls speak, sing and — now more than ever — Rosalía can also be heard.
UPDATE: The mural featuring Rosalía's portrait did not last even two weeks: unknown people painted over it with white paint and their own images.
