A deadly paradise: Jude Law and Ana de Armas in the unsettling thriller ‘Edén’

Starring Jude Law, Ana de Armas and Vanessa Kirby, the film revisits a story as fascinating as it is sinister: that of three groups of people who, in 1939, decided to leave the modern world behind and start from scratch on the remote Galápagos Islands.

What begins as a search for freedom in nature soon turns into a desperate struggle to survive. The trigger is the arrival of a mysterious baroness, whose presence sets off a chain of violence and deaths. It soon becomes clear that the greatest danger in paradise is neither the extreme conditions nor the isolation, but human secrets and ambitions.

Ron Howard, who visited the islands 15 years ago, became obsessed with this real story of isolation, tension and unexplained disappearances. Since then, he gathered documents and testimonies until he shaped a suspense-filled cinematic account.

Beyond its powerful premise, Edén stands out for a star-studded cast that also includes Sidney Sweeney and Daniel Brühl. The film, which already made an impression at the Toronto Festival, will finally reach cinemas this year.
